This year for the holidays, Peter and I decided to take advantage of the annual dropoff in gadget news to give ourselves a little something we've been waiting for all year: an hour to just sit down and geek out about the Xbox 360's and PS3's killer app: Modern Warfare 2 -- the biggest title of the year and the favorite game of team gdgt. We even brought on Robert Bowling (aka fourzerotwo), who graciously indulged our nerdiest of questions about everything from how MW2 was made to what classes the team at Infinity Ward plays with.

Oh, and perhaps best of all, we're also giving away a Modern Warfare 2 edition Xbox 360. Not bad, right? The year (and the decade) are winding down, but the gadget world tossed a few at us to help close out 2009. Obviously the biggest news was Google's Nexus One (AKA the HTC Dragon), but TeliaSonera launched its first LTE rollout, Verizon begun 10Gbps FiOS testing, and the FTC sued Intel over alleged monopolistic abuses. Oh, and just for good measure we finally have our surround sound gaming headset head-to-head up, pitting the Astro Gaming A40 with the Turtle Beach Ear-Force X41s -- clearly, you won't want to miss it.

Thanks to a bit of travel we're running a bit late again, but the show goes on, and in this week's episode we're talking about the Fusion Garage JooJoo, Boxee and D-Link's forthcoming Boxee Box, as well as Apple's acquisition of LaLa, Dell's Vostro V13 and new communication division, and the possibility of 7Gbps wireless throughput courtesy of the WiGig Alliance. Well, if you haven't already heard, Chrome OS is finally public! And hey, even if it won't really be available for consumer use for another year, we've already got a public preview of Chrome OS for download! We also got word that Sony's also looking at building an iTunes-like media store, Barnes & Noble's sold out of the nook this holiday season, AT&T lost its injunction against Verizon's ads, and Nokia's move to Maemo on its flagship devices. Oh, and if you're thinking about an HTC HD2, and definitely listen in for our hands-on this week.

We're back, and now with an all new production setup courtesy of Shure and AVID M-Audio! Tell us how the audio sounds of us talking about our first production Palm Pixi hands-on, the (supposedly) drastic decline in Pre sales, our first road tests of the RIM BlackBerry Storm2, Dell's tiny new Blu-ray equipped Zino HD, Samsung's new smartphone OS, bada, first impressions of Qualcomm's FLO TV, and VESA's approval of the Mini DisplayPort connector. We should be back later this week (likely on Friday) with something better resembling our regularly scheduled programming.

Looks like digital video is having an interesting week, between Best Buy and CinemaNow partnering up to make a huge push into device-based content distribution, as well as the rumor that Apple is pushing a $30 per month iTunes-based cable TV-killer. We also caught wind of the legal storm brewing between Spring Design and Barnes & Noble, as well as a few upcoming product launches, like the Nintendo DSi XL, the HTC HD2 (in the US), and Beatles Limited Edition USB drive. We've also got hands-ons with the HTC Eris, BlackBerry Bold 9700, as well as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 and Olympus E-P2 micro four thirds cameras.

Yeah, the PS3 is getting Netflix and the Palm Pixi is launching next month for $99, but this week we've got a boatload of Android stories, ranging from the announcement of Android 2.0 (aka Eclair), turn-by-turn GPS nav, and the first device to run it: the Motorola DROID. We've also got the scoop on the $99 HTC Eris, as well as hands-ons with the Motorola CLIQ and Samsung Moment. In other words, if you're into Android, this week's show is definitely for you.

Well, it happened: Windows 7 shipped! We'll be spending some time there, as well as with some of the other huge goings on of the week, including Apple's new 27-inch iMac, Magic Mouse, and unibody Macbook (among other devices we didn't get a chance to touch on, like the Mac mini with Snow Leopard Server and new remote). Turns out this was also a big week for e-book readers, too, between the hot new Barnes & Noble nook and its surprisingly familiar counterpart, the Spring Design Alex. We've also got the latest on Danger's big data loss (finally, some good news!), the Motorola Droid and the Pre coming to Verizon, and listener feedback -- so listen up.

It's been a rough week for Sidekick users (although worth noting that after we recorded this week's show, Microsoft announced wide-scale data recovery), but we're looking forward to Barnes and Noble's sexy new e-book reader which is rumored to have a multi-touch LCD. We also go into WiFi Direct this week, and catch up on the Sony Vaio X, Nokia Booklet 3G (which is hitting AT&T soon), the new Sonos ZonePlayer S5, as well as getting some hands-on time with Sprint's HTC Hero.

We're back! And apparently not a moment too soon, as the gadget world has been non-stop this week between the Windows phone (i.e. Windows Mobile 6.5) launch and the many devices it's running on, like the HTC HD2 and Imagio. The Kindle 2 is also finally launching internationally, while the Qualcomm FLO TV Personal Television got real, Dell announced its seriously wireless Z600 and Google and Verizon finally hooked up to get more open. Palm opened up a little, too, with its new webOS app store policies, while AT&T announced that it'd be allowing VoIP over 3G. Finally, we've got hands on with the new HP Envy 13 and Archos A5S Android tablet.

We're running a little late this week, but we've up on Microsoft's supposedly-forthcoming Turtle and Pure "Pink" phones, the Courier tablet concept, Palm's lackluster Pre sales and the USB-IF's call on their spat with Apple over iTunes syncing. Also up: the PS3 Motion Controller's spring 2010 debut, Nintendo Wii price drops to $200, Intel's Light Peak optical bus sees first light, some trouble swallowing femtocells, HP's new DreamScreens, Moxi-maker Digeo's acquisition for a mere $20m, and the latest connected e-book reader, the iRex Digital Reader DR800SG.

Oh, and don't forget our meetup in New York this Thursday, you won't want to miss it.

Another big week for gadgets around here, and we've finally got some sit-down time with the Zune HD -- and so far the outlook is good. We're also talking about the iPod touch 3rd-gen teardown that proves its missing camera, the Android-based Archos 5 media player, the new would-be Slingbox of video games, Spawn Labs's Spawn HD-720, Microsoft's Modern Warfare 2 edition Xbox 360, and the PS3 slim's 300% sales jump. We've got some laptops in the mix as well, With HP's new Envy 15 and Envy 13 workhorse machines, and its Mini 311 netbook, in addition to Lenovo's T400s and X200 with SimpleTap multi-touch.

Fall's officially upon us, and this holiday's big gadgets were launching fast and furious this week. From Apple's big fall music event we've got the new iPod nano 5th-gen, now with a video camera, an upgraded, faster iPod touch 3rd-gen, and a special edition iPod shuffle 3rd-gen. There was also a slew of cellphone launches as well, most notably the Centro-like Palm Pixi; the Motorola Cliq, the Android device they've spent the last couple years on; HTC new's low-end Tattoo, as well as the Hero's forthcoming US launch, courtesy of Sprint. That wasn't it, though, because we also caught our first glimpse of the new Toshiba JournE home media tablet, a teaser of Dell's new Adamo XPS, and even an LCD-based e-book device from Asus dubbed -- you guessed it -- the Eee Reader.

Well, Apple finally announced its fall iPod event for September 9th, Microsoft finally cut the Xbox 360's price by $100, and the Zune HD may be Zune to end all other Zunes, but it's also IFA week, which means the announcements are just getting started. The first of the Windows phones (i.e. Windows Mobile 6.5) was announced in Germany, HTC's Touch2, along with the Sony VAIO X, Nokia Booklet 3G and Nokia N900 pricing (it's not pretty), the capacitive-touch Nokia X6, Creative's ZEN X-Fi2, Canon's EOS 7D, the unfortunately timed Leica M9 and X1. Oh, and did we mention we launched a new gdgt homepage with a personalized activity stream? Because we did -- listen in for more!

Dunno about you, but we definitely weren't anticipating this week's onslaught of big stories. Announced and/or launched this week were the newest (aspiring) Kindle-killer, Sony's Reader Daily Edition; the Nokia Booklet 3G, Espoo's first-ever PC; and, at long last, Apple's hotly anticipated Snow Leopard. But that wasn't even all -- turns out Qualcomm's FLO TV Personal Television could be just around the corner, while the Rhapsody iPhone app might turn the tide for music on the iPhone (assuming it's approved).
