We're back with our first regular show since launching the site! Things are a little mid-summer-slow right now, but that didn't stop Google from taking the chance to blow a few minds by announcing its Chrome OS for netbooks. Unfortunately, it won't be out until the second half of next year -- but in the here and now Sony launched its $500 Vaio W netbook, Palm officially started prepping for the launch of the GSM Pre, and Lenovo's ThinkPad T400s are making their way to eager hands (including our own).

Well, HTC and Android sure had a big week: not only did T-Mobile announce the myTouch 3G (aka Magic / Ion), but HTC's long-awaited Hero made a splash with the first implementations of multi-touch and Flash Lite on the platform. Also floating around: HP's new web-connected (and supposedly very "photo," "smart," and "touch"-oriented) printer, and Lenovo's sleek but powerful ThinkPad T400s. Oh, and just a reminder: if you haven't already signed pre-registered for gdgt, get it on! You won't be sorry.

There's a glut of new gadgets rolling out over the next couple of weeks, so you know what that means: time for some hands-ons. We've got first impressions of some the iPhone 3G S, naturally, but we're just as stoked that Amazon's new Kindle DX made its way into our grubby mitts, as did Nokia's new N97. Summer blockbuster gadgets? Yeah, we can get behind that kind of a trend.

We've all been waiting for this show a long time -- years it feels like. Yeah, this week it's all about the Palm Pre. We're going to dig deep on webOS, the Pre, the Palm reboot that brought them into being, and even on how the newly announced iPhone 3G S and $99 iPhone 3G might affect Palm's plans.

Joining us this week with their thoughts and impressions are the one and only Leo Laporte and Engadget Mobile's own Chris Ziegler. But stick around until the end, because we're also going to take a look way back to 2007 in a bonus segment with our old pal Josh Topolsky about the open letter the three of us wrote Palm.

Between Palm's big launch, E3, and WWDC right around the corner, this was clearly a massive week for the gadget world. So we're digging into the Pre -- but only a little, since you can expect a roundtable on that soon enough -- and taking a good, long look at Microsoft's and Sony's big announcements in the way of motion (i.e. Project Natal and PS3 motion control) and full downloadable games (PSP Go, Xbox "Games on Demand").

It wasn't a small week for gadgets between the Zune HD finally getting official (and we've got the inside dirt, as well as hands-on impressions), the Pre's newfound iTunes syncing and plans for Verizon in 2010 laid bare, and Cupcake finally landing on our G1s. Unfortunately, not everyone made it out alive: OQO officially shut down and Psystar filed bankruptcy.

This week, in an unusual show of solidarity for spreading around the 3G love Verizon and Sprint both announced the MiFi 2200 personal mobile router -- but AT&T had other plans for people wanting to use its 3G network for streaming video with SlingPlayer. We also get into Microsoft's new Zune Pass ad (you know, the one that knocks the iPod), JVC's new live 4K camera, and installing CableCARD on your existing Media Center PC, which is sure to be great fun.

We're more than a little excited that Samsung announced the first major Android cellphone release outside HTC, but a slew of Microsoft and Apple (with Verizon) rumors certainly made us sit up and take notice. We're also talking Bluetooth headsets (such as Aliph's new Jawbone Prime and Plantronics's Voyager Pro), as well as a bit of DOCSIS 3.0 cable internet rollout.

It's a damned shame Ugobe's death means Pleo will go the way of the dinosaur, but as you'll soon find out, it certainly won't budge our deep love for robots. In cheerier news, elsewhere T-Mobile launched their first 3G Sidekick, while Bluetooth 3.0 + HS got official with fast 802.11 wireless transfers, and Microsoft's Windows 7 Starter edition (namely, it's three app cap) came home to roost.

This week we caught wind of Microsoft's new and interesting (if true) rumored ZuneHD media player, as well as the company's Xbox 360 warranty extension covering the dreaded E74 error. But in the mean time we also found out that OQO may be on the ropes, and Dell may be dabbling with a smartphone in China. Nikon kind of rounded out the news by pushing out its new D5000 DSLR with articulating display, so there's a little something for everyone.
